The Sound of Renaissance volume 1
http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B000063XAM.02.LZZZZZZZ.jpg
With a collection of Renaissance CD’s all proudly perched on my CD stand, it’s got to be said that each are as unique and as classy as any of the others. With the release of The Sound of Renaissance, I was expecting something completely different from Renaissance and I indeed got what I had been expecting.
Needless to say that it’s a superbly mixed compilation that blends the typical classy flair that Renaissance has so often displayed in each of their albums. The first disc kicks off Joshua Collin’s track Phonosynthesis that sets the tempo for the first disc. Jaggered basslines, electronic flares, techno vibes and a trancy feel exhibits what’s in store. I found the album a lot harder than past albums, easy baselines thoughout and great listen pleasure. Vocals are quiet common throughout the album and in particular Malawi Rocks featuring Dihanne Moore adds that extra spice to disc one. Stefano Greepi’s Electro-Pop displays some fantastic electronic tunes and is yet so refined and tasteful. The tracks are well selected and the always unexpected. I stress, it’s your typical clubbing music.
“Set The Mood”, defiantly does what it says as disc 2 starts off with a deep, dark track from Sphere & Accorsi. It’s weird and grows nicely on you. The tracks are original, interesting and defiantly wicked. I found ‘TROY’ by Sinead O’Connor and the repetitive irritating voice ‘I Know you can’ by Whatever Girl is a little cheesy sounding for my likes but worth listening to for the great backgrounds. The middle of disc 2 is not what I would have liked to have heard but tracks from Pablo Gargano and Guy Gerber & Saha Z closes off CD2 with some great elegant Renaissance style tunes!
The album is typically suitable for those of who appreciate the difference in progressive house music. It’s appropriate without being overboard, its comfortable without being cheesy, the tunes are classy and have ‘new’ feel about them without compromising quality and the mixing is tender, perfect and neat. It’s a terrific asset to the CD collection and is great listening. Every time you listen, you’ll be asking yourself if it’s the same CD you bought cause it just gets better every time so sit back and forget about that skip button!
