Leave the winter chill behind for a better kind of chill, the acclaimed Real Ibiza series returns with its fifth instalment.
Taking its cue from the horizontal Balearic / Café del Mar vibe, Real Ibiza explores the left of centre side of chillout & lounge, as compiled (and mixed) by chill out supremo’s Rob da Bank and Phil Mison.
Rob da Bank is one of London’s most renowned purveyor’s of Balearic beats. The founder of long-running club - and now record label - Sunday Best, as well as columnist and downtempo reviewer for Jockey Slut, Rob’s name has become synonymous with the more leftfield, downtempo Balearic sound. Aside from DJ duties at Coastline (Ibiza), The End, Cargo, The Arches (Glasgow), Big Chill, Glastonbury etc. Rob also co-host’s Radio One’s weekly chillout show ‘The Blue Room’.
Phil Mison is a former resident of the White Island’s Café del Mar and belongs to that unique breed of Balearic Chill Out DJ, combing through all styles, combining them anew into a soundtrack for chilling. Between compiling the deep house series, Soundcolours, DJing at Soulsonic, Sunday Best and Stoned Asia, Phil also as records as Cantoma for Music for Dreamers,
Real Ibiza V features tracks from Norwegian funksters Röyksopp, Lazyboy aka Rob da Bank & Mr Dan, Nuphonic stars Fenomenon, Warp electronicists Plaid, Indian fusionists Badmarsh & Shri, cult star Yonderboi, F Comm’s Aqua Bassino & Phil Mison’s own Cantoma. Together they create a classy selection of sounds for sofa surfing and sun-lounging. Real Ibiza 5 also includes the superb remix of Vangelis ‘Love Theme’ from Bladerunner.
