FortDance 2005:
First Russian appearance for MYLO.
The Sixth FortDance Festival will be taking place on July 22 out at the Petrovskie forts - the "Emperor Alexander" and "Emperor Konstantin" forts on the shores of the Finnish Gulf. The main reason to head to the forts this year will be to hear the biggest live electronic project of the year, MYLO. A full concert program from "the savior of dance music", as MixMag dubbed him, is no joke. This, in case there was any dance, is full recognition for FortDance on the international scene. And that means that next year will be even more interesting. MYLO, which will play at the Alexander, will be fronted by Mr. C, a former front man with Shamen who currently works in techno and tech-house as a DJ and owns the The End club in London. Sandra Collins, a US trance DJ (DJ of the Year - USA Dance Star Awards 2003, and part of Paul Oakenfield's Perfecto project), will also be playing at the Alexander.
On a separate stage, the Bacardi Important Person Zone, at the same fort, DVJ Dan Tait (UK) will be working his magic (he ranks up with Sander Kleinenberg and James Zabiela as a member of the test team for the new Pioneer DVJ-XI DJ-DVD-player. The player allows Tait to use visual effects he has created at home on video and in animation form. The visual effects are put to the music he usually uses for his performances. FortDance will be the third venue in the world to be treated to this visual feast.
The festival's main stage - at the Konstantin - will be head a radio DJ from BBC Radio One, Judge Jules. His energetic trance will be heard by 30,000 fans at the festival. In addition, another of the world's finest trance-projects, Infected Mushroom will be appearing, with DJ Marco V warming up.
The visual element at FortDance promises to be strong this year, with unique facade projectors creating a complete visual-musical space.
And when morning comes around, and the forts weary of the hours of stamping of feet, the most resilient can head to the official after-party at Jet Set*****Beach. The Mojito FortDance 6 Afterparty begins at 8am with DJ Danny Howls and DJ Paul Jackson. It will continue on until the evening, and at 3pm there will be a raffle for a ticket to Ibiza as part of the Mojito Bacardi Inside project.
